City Kids

We want our children to have a solid relationship with Jesus, and to know Him as a close friend who cares about every part of their lives.

Sometimes, we do this by dancing like chickens. It’s true. Other times, we sit and read the bible together. And in the midst of the fun, the friendships and the discovering, Jesus is making Himself known to the City Kids.

How it works

Before the service parents register their children at the City Kids table, so it's good to arrive bit early. Fifteen minutes into the Sunday morning service, parents bring their children to the City Kids registration area and the leaders will then take them to their rooms. At the end of the service parents go and collect their children from the respective rooms.

Now the fun begins, a carousel of activities enables them to be active and reflective, as they discover how exciting Jesus is, and learn about knowing him for themselves.

Child Protection

The safety of the children is of utmost importance. To ensure that they are protected, we:

  • Register children at the beginning and end of our time together so we know where the children are at all times throughout the morning.
  • Give parents / carers a wristband at the first registration that must be returned at the end of the session for them to pick up their child.
  • Ensure that all adults involved in the City Kids ministry must have an up to date DBS certificate.
  • Ensure that no child is allowed to go anywhere alone whilst at City Kids.

Crèche

We have a crèche for 0-2yr olds.

Explorers - Pre-school

Nursery and Reception children start the morning with fun and interactive games. Simple worship songs keep them engaged, followed by a bible story with one key lesson to take on board. A fun craft activity linked to the bible story rounds the morning off and gives each child a special souvenir of their own to take home.

Pioneers - Years R - 3

Children in school years 1, 2 and 3 begin their session with some lively fun and games. They spend some time looking at the bible, and talking about how what they’ve read applies practically to their own lives. There’s a café break, with a drink, biscuits and more games. With happy tummies, it’s time for funky worship songs and prayer, covering every topic imaginable, from the world to friends and ourselves.

Trailblazers - Years 4 - 6

The oldest age group at City Kids begins with a short game, followed by a time of looking at the bible together. We spend time in groups discussing the questions and issues that arise from our reading, and see how we can apply it to our lives practically. The café break changes the pace, with drinks, biscuits and more games. The session ends with worship and prayer covering a variety of topics throughout the year.
