Whether you're from Kent, Christchurch or UCA... come and check out a Fresher Cell Group!

The groups are part of The City Church Canterbury's cell group network, and are lead by a combo of final year students and our Impact team. Cells help you get to know other people, as well as offering a great way for new students to get stuck into church. Cell meetings are times set aside to draw closer to God, experience his Spirit and learn from his word the Bible.

Why Fresher Cells

We are a church that builds our lives on the foundation of the Bible and by the inspiration and gifting of the Holy Spirit. One such spiritual gift is that of prophecy and back in February 2006, God spoke powerfully through Julian Adams from the following scripture:

“May our sons in their youth be like plants full grown, our daughters like corner pillars cut for the structure of a palace; (13) may our granaries be full, providing all kinds of produce; may our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields; (14) may our cattle be heavy with young, suffering no mishap or failure in bearing; may there be no cry of distress in our streets! (15) Blessed are the people to whom such blessings fall! Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD!”

Psalms 144:12-15 ESV

Here is a synopsis of what God said through Julian:

There would be an anointing to change the fabric of society and the very streets of Canterbury - that "the streets would not cry out in distress over Canterbury!" Our number will grow to over 1,000 and that discipleship and cell groups are key to this; young men and women will be led into maturity; there will be evangelistic breakthrough - you will see the most unlikely of people get saved! There has been a prophetic mantle imparted and books will be written as models to other campuses."

We seek to respond to this message by releasing young men and women into leadership of other students, forming missional communities on the campuses.
