Overview of The City Church Canterbury
The City Church Canterbury began in 1989 and is part of Newfrontiers, a worldwide family of churches together on a mission. We are a group of Christians, from a wide variety of different backgrounds, ages and ethnic origins, who all want to be part of God's good plans for this city.
Like millions of other Christians, we have found that a relationship with Jesus Christ has changed our lives and given us a new purpose in life. For us, Christianity and church enable us to experience more and more of the spiritual life which Jesus promised. It is this new reality which we want to share with the people we come into contact with day by day.
Every Sunday morning we gather to worship God and learn more about him and his purposes for our lives. Because he is a living and loving God, we expect to meet with him both personally and corporately, experience his care for us and receive from him what we need for the week ahead.
Christianity is about knowing God as our Father and Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. The Bible assures us that our relationship with Jesus is not just about Sunday morning meetings, but should affect every aspect of our daily lives. To help us in this, we meet during the week in small groups called 'cells' to discover together the practical application of what the Bible teaches, to grow in our ability to worship and pray, to deepen friendships and to support one another as we share our faith with those who do not yet know Jesus.
