Leadership and Office team

 

The leadership and office teams love to serve the family of the church alongside our members. Here's a bit about each of them and the areas that they are involved with:

Martin Segal - Lead Elder
Martin leads the eldership team and is our elder at the Canterbury site. Martin moved to Canterbury in 2003 to study politics at the University of Kent. He is married to Kathryn and enjoys a good game of football, reading and trips to the cinema. 

Tom Shaw - Elder

Tom is primarily based at the Canterbury site.

He is married to Josie and they have three daughters: Daisy, Lilly & Poppy.

Tim Wilson - Elder

Tim is at the Canterbury site, is married to Claire and they have two children: Ben & Emma.

 

Geoff Maile - Elder
 

Geoff leads our Whitstable site. He is married to Miriam and they have a two young children. They moved to Whitstable from Canterbury to help launch the site back in 2011. Geoff has recently moved into full time employment for the church supporting our pastoral work and Whitstable members. Geoff is passionate about God's word and seeing Christians live in the fullness of their identity in Christ.

 

Joe Robertson
Joe has been part of The City Church since 2008 when he came to study at the University of Kent. He is married to Anna who arrived in Canterbury that same year and he’s big on football, film and gaming. He is the Office Manager, which involves providing a large proportion of the administration for the church as well as overseeing the running of our events and midweek meetings.

Sam Gardner
Sam oversees our Student work within the church.

Alexi Brook
Alexi's role in the office team is to provide part-time admin assistance to the Senior Leadership Team, so you will probably be in touch with her at some point! She been part of The City Church since coming to Canterbury to study in the mid-90s, Is married to Simon, with three lovely children. As well as her PA work, she oversees the church’s Canterbury Debt Advice Centre as a volunteer.

Matt Spocc
Matt is responsible for coordinating our Sunday events and supporting our Intentional Dicipleship volenteer team at The City Church

Penny Campbell
Penny and her late husband David moved to Canterbury from Zambia in 1978. They were part of The Pentecostal church for 10 years before being part of the City Church plant in 1988. Penny has four adult children and 7 grand children, who all live locally. Penny was trained as an accountant in Zambia. After having her children, she worked at C&H Fabrics as a cashier and then as Financial Bursar at Simon Langton Girl’s Grammar School for 23 years. Penny’s role in City Church is as Finance Administrator. She is responsible for implementing and monitoring the new financial software for the church, ensuring that the Elders, Trustees, and Treasurer are given up-to-date reports. Penny is responsible for writing the Finance Policy and Guidelines and making sure we adhere to them. Penny loves people and has a pastoral/mother heart. Her other role is as Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Officer across our sites. She is passionate about training and equipping those in a pastoral role in the church. Penny loves reading, music, being in the sun (!) and relaxing with friends and family and above all Jesus, who is her rock and security.

Matt Fell
Matt runs the Intentional Dicipleship year training programme for our family of churches: Relational Mission.

Olly Knight
Olly has been part of City Church for many years after coming to study Politics at uni. He is married to Kirsty and is Dad to Caleb. He works for the church overseeing the worship teams across the sites. His role includes mentoring our worship leaders, providing training and he administrates the team. The vision for the worship team is to serve the Church, be creative and worship Jesus.

Julianne Butler
Julianne is married to Richard and they have 2 teenage daughters; Grace and Lily. She been part of The City Church for around 24 years. Her role is the Kids Co-ordinator. She feels privileged to be leading the children's work in our church family, taking care of and nurturing our City Kids and the team of wonderful people who serve so diligently across our sites.

Andrew Francis
Andrew came to Canterbury to study multimedia technology and design at university. He now works part time as a member of our communications team focusing on graphic design and video.
