What is the Ministry?
Welcoming people into the church on a Sunday morning with smiling faces and warm conversation, and providing a clear reference point to help people.
What is the vision of the ministry?
To make The City Church Canterbury as friendly and as welcoming a place as it possibly can be! We aim to grow to being a church of over 1000 people (that means lots of new people to welcome!), and the welcome team has a vital part to play in befriending first-time visitors and helping them to become integrated into the church.
What does it look like on a week to week basis?
Essentially meeting and greeting people before and after the service, chatting to visitors, making them feel at home and drawing them into church life.
What would be involved in serving in this area?
Arriving a 9.30am on a Sunday morning for the prayer meeting, being strategically positioned before and after the service to look out for new people, engaging visitors in conversation and gaining contact details from them so that the integration team can follow up.
What sort of person are you looking for?
Cheerful, smiley, outgoing and warm, with a desire to meet and befriend visitors.
What is the process if I want to get involved?
Register your interest online or e-mail info@thecitychurch.org.uk to arrange a short interview with Ashley Hobson. You will then be informed of when the next welcome team training is.
