What is the ministry?

Minibus drivers provide transport for students and non-drivers to church and other events such as Alpha, 8-11s cell and In.vision.

What is the vision of the ministry?

To provide a friendly and efficient service that enables and encourages people to attend church events, almost never crashing, breaking down or making the passengers get out and push.

What does it look like on a week to week basis?

On Sunday mornings, the minibus collects students from Kent and Christ Church campuses to take them to church, and then returns them to their campuses after the service. During the week, it takes children to and from 8-11s cell and sometimes provides transport for Alpha guests. The minibus sometimes makes longer journeys and in the past has been spotted as far north as Derby.

What would be involved in serving in this area?

You would be on the Sunday rota approximately once a month, on the Friday night youth events rota approximately once every 2 months and perhaps asked to drive for one-off events when they occur, all depending on your availability. If you are free during the week, you can also help by driving children to and from 8-11s cell.

What sort of person are you looking for?

For the Simon Langton Boys’ School buses the driver must be over 25 with a D1 on their license. For the church minibus, drivers must be over 25 with no more than two offences on their license. Drivers must be friendly and welcoming to users, maintain the cleanliness of the bus on their usage, and be sensible and conscientious behind the wheel.

What is the process if I want to get involved?

Resister your enquiry on line or e-mail: info@thecitychurch.org.uk. You will need to provide a copy of your driving license.
