What is the Ministry?

Coffee and Chaos is a parent and toddler group that meets on a Friday morning in Thanington Resource Centre.

What is the vision of the ministry?

Our vision is to serve those who attend and to be an example of a great church family whilst providing a bridge into church for families. We aim to provide an excellent group for both children and parents with a variety of activities for the children and an opportunity for parents to meet other parents and relax with their children in a safe environment.

What does it look like on a week to week basis?

Before each Friday we make sure we have all the snacks, drinks and resources that we need for the morning. We also prepare a craft for the children to do. Friendships are continued throughout the week in a variety of ways. On the Friday we:

  • Collect the toy boxes
  • Set up the room and toys for people arriving at 10 am
  • Welcome new people and old friends
  • Make drinks for children and adults
  • Wash up
  • Set up the craft table
  • Lead a story and singing time to finish at 12 noon
  • Clear up and return toys

What would be involved in serving in this area?

The most demanding areas are making the drinks and clearing them away; and providing and running a craft each week. We would like to build our team and make a rota of workers so that the same people do not need to do all of these things each week. Involvement in Coffee and Chaos does not need to be a long term commitment.

What sort of person are you looking for?

We would like people who could make tea and coffee, people who could set up toys, people who could chat to the parents who come, people who are good at sticking and people who don’t mind being surrounded by children for a morning. Not really a highly skilled role but someone happy to serve this area of church. (You don’t have to have your own child to come along!)

What is the process if I want to get involved?

Register your interest on line or e-mail: info@thecitychurch.org.uk. We will then
work out how best to use your skills and time. A police check will be required.
